Mihlali Sitefane is a senior associate in ENSafrica’s Natural Resources and Environment department. She specialises in mining and environmental matters.

She has acted for local and international clients throughout Africa on a number of large, high-profile mining transactions, and has assisted in establishing in-country and cross-border operations throughout Africa.

Mihlali advises on all aspects of regulatory compliance, mining and mineral titles, due diligence, mineral royalties, access to mines and surface use issues, mining-related disputes and litigation, and administrative and constitutional law issues. She also has expertise in appeals and responses in terms of the South African Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002, as well as in empowerment matters.

Mihlali’s environmental experience includes advising on the National Management Environmental Act, 1998, the National Water Act, 1998 and the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008, as well as on establishing, registering and amending trusts, including environmental rehabilitation trusts.
